Mosser Village Family Center Highlights: July 2005 - June 2006

The Mosser Village Family Center provided services to 521 (unduplicated) children, adults, and families living in Allentown's 14th ward.

  • 194 children in the Mosser neighborhood participated in after school or summer programs:
    • 96 children attended 30 sessions or more offered by the family center.
    • 21st Century Community Learning Centers 5 days per week after school programs for elementary school students. 69 elemenary students participated, 41 students attended 30 or more days
    • 54 children attended a 5 day per week all day summer enrichment camp program for 7 weeks. 13 children had perfect attendance.
    • 52 children received holiday gifts and party from Bethel Bible Fellowship, Lehigh County Juvenile Probation, and Mosser Village Family Center.
  • Offerings to 327 adults included:
    • Clothing Bank - 133 adults usesd the clothing bank one or more times. Several church congregations as well as the community residents have donated clothing.
    • Food Bank - 151 families have enrolled and are eligible to shop twice a month for emergency food supplies.
    • Smoke Free Movie Nights-70 children and adults attended 8 movies
    • Metro Plus - 5 have enrolled to make use of the shuttle bus service.
    • LANTA bus tickets - 15 residence received emergency bus tickets for emergency transportation needs.
    • Turkey Bingo-87 residents played Bingo for free turkeys at Thanksgiving .
    • Bed, Bath & Beyond donations- 59 adults received donated merchandise.
    • Newsletters-2000 community newsletters were printed and distributed quarterly by neighborhood volunteers.
    • Other adult services included computer classes and ongoing case management services.
  • Collaborated with more than 30 community agencies in the operations of the Mosser Village Family Center.
  • Participated as a worksite for Lehigh County Juvenile Probation. Community youth learn to take pride and ownership in their own neighborhood.
  • Provide a worksite weekly for 6-10 members of the Association for Retarded Citizens.
